On Saturday, May 23rd, downtown Paducah filled with the rumble of exotic engines and the twang of live music. Cars & Guitars held its fifth annual event along the riverfront, combining an exotic and specialty vehicle showcase with performances from local musicians — and this year, a fundraiser to purchase a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for a local family in need.

Vehicle owners paid a $5 registration fee to display their cars, trucks or motorcycles on closed downtown streets. Colt Winchester, one of the event coordinators, said the community angle is central to the concept. "We wanted a fundraiser aspect to it, and we wanted to find a way to give back to the community," he said.

Four acts performed across the afternoon. The Solid Rock'it Boosters opened the music programme, followed by Leight July and Kylah Beth. Aaron Jesse Keys took the afterparty to Over/Under following the main event. Attendees moved freely between vehicles and stages, browsing local vendors operating alongside the car display.

The event costs nothing to attend. Families, car enthusiasts and music fans have treated it as a reliable fixture on the spring calendar since its first edition. Attendance has grown each year as word has spread through social media and local press.

Downtown Paducah has leaned into its riverfront as an event space in recent years, programming the corridor from spring through autumn with festivals designed to pull residents out of their neighbourhoods and into the city centre. Cars & Guitars fits neatly into that strategy — low cost, broad appeal, and this year, a local family stands to benefit directly from how many people showed up.
