Paducah Power System has a new chief executive. The municipal utility's board of directors announced on May 12 that Cory Hicks, who has served as PPS chief strategy officer since last July, will be promoted to CEO effective July 1. He succeeds Dave Carroll, who is retiring after a long tenure leading the utility.
Hicks brings a background steeped in the region's energy economy. Before joining PPS, he served as chief strategy and business officer for Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership, which managed cleanup operations at the DOE's Paducah site, and as deputy business services director for Fluor Federal Services. He also served as chief of staff for former U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield.
Hicks currently sits on the boards of Baptist Health Systems and Paducah Bank, and serves on the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority, a governor-appointed body — a connection that may prove useful as McCracken County navigates its relationship with the DOE site's next chapter.
